Normally when you are looking for a telephone number, you type in the person’s first name and last name. Well, in the case of what is called a reverse directory, this means you would do the opposite. You would type in the person’s telephone number and then their first name and last name. When you type in the telephone number that you want to search, the system then looks through millions of public records for a match. Some wireless telephone carriers are not searchable by regular reverse lookup fields. If you happen to be looking up a non-searchable telephone number, the results would show only the city based on the area code that was typed in. Some websites conduct reverse lookups by having you find by business name while other websites label their links clearly by stating reverse lookup. Unpublished telephone numbers are also searchable. Maybe you missed an incoming phone call and want to know who it is before you call them back. This would be another good reason to conduct a reverse lookup.

Each US area code may contain up to 7,919,000 phone numbers. Each area code is assigned to a numbering plan area, the prefix (“exchange”) is assigned to a central office and the last four numbers are the local number or subscriber number.

People are now offering social media checks. These types of checks can find important information such as photos, videos, blogs, professional interests, social networking profiles and archives and publications. These searches can be conducted for a fee.
